Where service never retires. KVP brings together Kenya's finest — battle-hardened, disciplined, and deeply committed veterans of the Kenya Defence Forces — now channelling their lifetime of expertise into building the peaceful, secure, and prosperous Kenya they once defended in uniform.
"The More We Sweat In Peace, The Less We Bleed In War."
"Retired But Not Tired. Not Expired."
Kenya Veterans for Peace (KVP) is a distinguished non-partisan organisation of retired Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) military veterans, formed in the wake of the 2007/2008 post-General Election violence. The organisation was established under the auspices and stewardship of H.E. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, as a deliberate strategic response and intervention to national healing, reconciliation, and sustainable peace. KVP is duly registered under the Societies Act, Cap 108, Laws of Kenya.
KVP complements the efforts of Government, State, and Non-State actors in advancing peace, security, and development. Guided by the ethos of Service-Out-of-Active-Service, members leverage their military expertise, discipline, professional skills, and operational experience to serve the nation in retirement. The organisation translates decades of defence and security competence into civilian peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and community resilience initiatives.
KVP operates from its National Headquarters at Nyayo House, Nairobi, with a functional leadership structure cascading from National, Regional, County, Sub-County, Divisional, to Grassroots levels. This decentralised framework ensures presence, responsiveness, and impact across all communities in Kenya.
